On October 31, 2025, a joint review and academic seminar jointly organized by Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital and the editorial board of the Orthopedic Journal of China was successfully held at Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital. Professor Sun Lei, Editor in Chief of the Orthopedic Journal of China, Professor Li Zengchun from Shanghai Oriental Hospital, Professor Tian Jiwei from the Department of Orthopedics at Nanjing Medical University Affiliated BenQ Hospital, Professor Zheng Longpo from the Department of Orthopedics at Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital, Professor Liu Ming from the Department of Orthopedics at Shanghai Fourth People's Hospital, as well as Professor Fan Cunyi, the leader of the Department of Orthopedics at Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital, Director Zhu Jianzheng from the Department of Discipline and Career Development, Professor Shen Longxiang and Professor Ruan Hongjiang from the Department of Orthopedics, attended the on-site meeting.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Fan Cunyi, the leader of the Department of Orthopedics at the Sixth People's Hospital of Shanghai, pointed out that as a national key clinical specialty, the Department of Orthopedics at the Sixth People's Hospital has always adhered to the core concept of "innovation driven development", and has made multiple breakthroughs in fields such as ankle surgery, micro repair, diagnosis and treatment of bone and joint diseases, digital bone technology, innovation and transformation, continuously injecting momentum into the development of orthopedic medicine.
The core part of the meeting revolves around on-site review and in-depth discussion of four manuscripts. Firstly, the author of the manuscript reports the core content, then two chief experts provide professional comments from the dimensions of scientificity and innovation, and finally, Professor Sun Lei, the editor in chief of this journal, analyzes the manuscript one by one. The chief experts, combined with in-depth study, accurately pointed out the problems and optimization directions of the manuscript. Sun Lei, the editor in chief, focuses on the rationality of research design, data consistency, scientific statistical analysis, and key points of discussion section writing, providing detailed explanations of potential problems and improvement ideas. The author had face-to-face communication and discussion with experts to gain a clear understanding of the shortcomings and revision directions of the manuscript, providing important assistance for young doctors to improve their research abilities and academic growth, and effectively promoting the upgrading of manuscript quality.
In addition to the review process, the conference also arranged a variety of academic seminar activities simultaneously. The attending experts gave wonderful academic lectures, covering topics such as digital healthcare and sports rehabilitation in the digital economy era, breakthrough innovation, medical engineering integration, and industrial transformation (Wang Jinwu); Management of old acetabular fractures combined with sciatic nerve injury (Zheng Longpo); Reconstruction of deformed limbs after trauma (Liu Ming); Spinal surgery robot application (Tian Jiwei); Exploration of pricing and equity investment path for hospital scientific and technological achievements (Zhu Jianzheng); Diagnosis and treatment of chronic shoulder pain (Shen Longxiang); Emphasizing both muscles and bones - A brief discussion on the difficult problem of soft tissue repair in the treatment of osteomyelitis (Ruan Hongjiang). Attendees expressed that the expert lecture content is both cutting-edge and practical, which not only broadens academic horizons, but also has important guiding significance for improving research abilities and paper writing skills.
At the closing ceremony, Professor Sun Lei, the editor in chief of the Orthopedic Journal of China, emphasized that the journal has always been committed to "serving clinical practice and promoting innovation" for more than 30 years. This review meeting breaks through the traditional mode and combines paper review with academic discussions. Through face-to-face guidance from experts, it effectively helps young scholars improve their research and paper writing abilities. In the future, this journal will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with key industry disciplines, jointly cultivate high-quality academic achievements, and contribute greater strength to the high-quality development of China's orthopedic surgery industry.
